Bellany's stone
Walking through the cemetery en route to the Dean Gallery to see the MC Escher exhibition, discovered this wonderful stone marking John Bellany's grave.
To our great surprise - shock? - a flash of colour caught our eyes, and we discovered small Confederate flags pkanted in the ground at the foot of a memorial to an Edinburgh man who became a colonel in a Mississippi regiment of theConfederate army and died in battle in Tennessee. Who on earth is replacing the flags, we wondered?
The Escher exhibition was well worth seeing.
