Solitude

"Our language has wisely sensed the two sides of being alone. It has created the word loneliness to express the pain of being alone. And it has created the word solitude to express the glory of being alone."- Paul Tillich

I know several people who actively avoid being alone.
I think many of those people who talk on their cell phones nonstop might be avoiding being alone. It's like they can't drive or shop or even walk without talking with someone.
I cannot relate at all.
I need "alone time" as much as I need food or water.
I need silence and solitude in my life.
Even just being in a different room with a book. Or walking down a trail and taking a photo alone.
Solitude refreshes my spirit.
