Tremendous Threads

This afternoon Jean and I went to see the Great Tapestry of Scotland which is currently exhibiting in the Art Gallery/Museum in Kirkcaldy. What a fantastic thing this is! 160 panels depicting our history and culture. We discovered many facts that we hadn't known about and read about historical happenings which to our shame we had never heard about before. It certainly prompted us both to go and delve into various aspects of our history a bit more. We were also both struck by how cleverly designed the panels were and of course the craftwork itself was absolutely superb.

I've chosen this photo to upload here because I love how the peacock and the woman intertwine, but I did grin broadly at the panel depicting the new town of Cumbernauld because it had a section showing a scene from Gregory's Girl on it.
