Peeking

Food shopping this morning, waiting for the world to dry out after a month's worth of rain fell yesterday. This afternoon I was out recording again, and came across the speckled bush-cricket, peeking round a leaf. They're common in well vegetated areas of England and Wales, such as woodland margins, hedgerows and gardens.
The eggs are laid, in late summer, into tree bark or plant stems where they remain over winter. The nymphs emerge in May and June and mature as adult speckled bush crickets by mid August. I think this male may still have a bit of growing to do!
