Inspiration Is Coming Our Way!
Today I had a lovely day planned! I was going to run some errands and my friend Helen was going to come with me so that at lunchtime we (Dolly too!) would walk along the Kennet & Avon canal and have lunch at a cafe at Aldermaston. Then a couple more errands followed by afternoon tea at Sonning Lock along the Thames.
Unfortunately, we had what seemed like a day-long Monsoon hit the UK, so walkies and food, sitting in outdoor cafes and tea shops, was definitely out of the question! We still ran my errands and it was nice to have company, but poor Dolly didn't like that we kept leaving her in the car! We decided to stop at Waitrose to buy food for a 'picnic' at home, followed by tea and home-made cake and cookies and a short movie. It was so chilly we even put the fire on! The important part was that we had a great day together! My friend Helen normally lives in Tanzania, so we don't get to see her very often and it's always a delight when she has time in her busy schedule to visit us! Dolly loves her too!
So….the picture…this was a bit of an 'emergency blip', (taken from the inside of my car) but today was not a day very conducive to taking many pictures. BUT…the shot was very exciting nonetheless! A number of years ago, IKEA bought some land near Reading and then did absolutely nothing with it, even once it had planning permission! Finally, the building work is about to commence and we will have our very own IKEA store just a couple of junctions down the motorway. I LOVE IKEA so I am very excited!
Kitchen News:
This morning the builder started putting my base units together and he will finish them tomorrow. After the rush of earlier this week, it now seems as if there will be several partial work days, which actually, suits me just fine! They are waiting for the plaster to dry so they are limited to how much more they can do before the painting can be done. On Monday the work-top people come to template.
