Let It Be
Woke up this morning with absolutely no idea what the day held, apart from the rain and gale force winds forecast for the South East. Before leaving Dubai, I'd purchased an Afternoon Tea online and was beginning to find it a bind as to when to fit it in. G suggested we try it today, so we called and they could fit us in! Yay! So it was off to London again...
When we got there, we went into the Garrick Theatre to see if they had any availability for tonights' show and they did! :D Friend rachelwhynot had given us Theatre vouchers and we were able to use them. We then got on a No 29 bus towards Tottenham Court Road to head to the British Museum.
We got wet getting there but dried off in the hour we had in the Museum. Not a comprehensive visit by any means, but just a taster to visit again. We then walked to the hotel for the Afternoon Tea and got absolutely drenched in the 15 minutes it took to get there. London cabbies seemed to purposely drive fast through a puddle making big splashes on to the pavement! Arrived looking pretty dishevelled and feeling pretty damp. Yuck! I think we just about dried off after 2 hours!
Unusually, this tea featured a whole bottle of Prosecco. Needless to say, we soon felt very relaxed and G was nearly singing away. (JOKING!) Anyway, it had a fantastic balance of savoury and sweet. Thoroughly recommended...
We then jumped back on a No 29 except this time it wasn't a long walk to the bus stop. Arrived in plenty of time for the show... in fact, whilst waiting for the doors to open, we struck up a conversation with a Japanese couple asking them about their love of the Beatles. Turns out the gentleman got interested in them when the Beatles went to Tokyo in 1966. He was 10 years old. I think I was 10 years old when I first became aware of the Fab Four.
On chatting a bit more, he asked me if I played a musical instrument, to which I said YES - guitar. He then announced he worked for Yamaha - and I told him - with much excitement - I have two Yamaha guitars. He was so thrilled, we actually shook hands! :D There you go.
As for the show... so pleased we decided on this one. G is such a huge Beatles fan and she loved every minute. A very happy and interactive audience and even better than it is allowed to take photographs during the show.
It stopped raining by the time we started to head back, which meant a walk all the way to Waterloo (ugh). Got home by 11:30 I think... having had a fab day but too tired to pull out my laptop to blip.
