Alphabet challenge - C is for Change

Change as in 'small change' but also as in 'how it has changed' - we certainly needed bigger purses when I was a child! The coins on the left total 16 shillings in 1950s currency - the equivalent (in conversion, not purchasing power) to the 80p from todays purse!
When I took a Saturday job at Woolworth's in 1955 I was paid 15 shillings - and had to pay NI from that too - so ended up with 11 shillings and 9 pence! But then, you could go to the cinema and have an ice cream for less than 2 shillings!
