Just Sand???

This grasshopper(?) would have gone completely undetected if it hadn't started out on the asphalt (see extra photo - close-up).  Once it hopped over to the sand it blended in so well, I had to squint to relocate it if I took my eyes off it for a second.  Talk about excellent camouflage!!  

I did'nt find this one in my insect book or online, so grasshopper is a general guess... but none had unique little wings like this guy.  Some kind of 'hopper' anyway... 
It never did use those little wings to get away from me.  Unlike any other hopper I've ever tried to photograph, it just tolerated me and hopped short distances after long posing sessions.  Strange.
