General Grant

The General Grant tree is the second-largest sequoia in the world. It is round about 3,000 years old. Astonishing. Have been to the Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks today looking at the redwood trees. The scenery is breathtaking.

General Grant is 270 feet tall and 107 feet around at its base. The tree was named in 1867 to honor Ulysses S. Grant, and was coined the “Nation's Christmas Tree” by President Calvin Coolidge.

We've also seen General Sherman, the largest sequoia by volume and a black bear. Now in a very traditional roadside motel for the night.
