And Farewell

Sadly, the 'Ave' and 'Vale' print has almost disappeared from our doormat. Doesn't that sound pretentious? But we didn't so much as choose it as find it, brand new, lying unaccompanied on the pavement halfway up the Mound one evening several years ago. How could I resist?

With friends we were heading for a pub for the live music - very popular and very busy so, grateful for our newly acquired mat, we ended up sitting on it on the floor. The other punters must have thought we had brought it specially.

Somehow a shop-bought 'Welcome'  is a poor substitute.
