Stumble & Fall

It's made interesting reading this week around our Chancellors plans to remove our deficit and Greece's attempts to add to theirs. It's hard to think of a greater dichotomy than that of the European economies that range from the might of the rich able to make decisions for themselves, and those of the poor having decisions made for them. The IMF cavalry tried in vain to ride to the Greek defence only to fall into the hopeless trap of a German impregnable defensive square.

I wonder how history will view all of this with the added hindsight of being able to see how this all eventually plays out?! Certainly the revolters marching in capital cities the world over find their voices fall on deaf ears as the masses vote with their feet and stay at home.

It's sad that we don't seem to march for our deep held beliefs nowadays and yet in Britain I honestly think that any belief in the power of marching was mortally wounded by the Blair snub of demonstrations against the Iraq invasion. Tony continues to put up two fingers to the tide of opinion by last night suggesting that if your heart was with the left winger Jeremy Corbyn, then it was time to get a transplant! That secured my vote for Jeremy then.

Powerful people have one huge blind spot though. They invariably fail to see another view that could have more merit than their own. Democracy, overthrow or whatever your voting system looks like, does allow for the correction of a pompous self fulfilled egocentric ass to be toppled, and with that as our hope may we, the normal punter, pray for better terms for the Greek people.
