Osprey Land

An osprey pair returns to this local nest each year. And, with the help of the local fish hatchery, they successfully raise two or three chicks. This year it was three. The hatchery folks stock the.local lakes for fishermen. And the ospreys find the dumb fish to be easy pickings.
Within the last week the fledglings have been busy trying out their wings. They stand on the edge of the nest, face into the wind, and practice their flapping.
This shot is a little fuzzy. Cropping would worsen it. The only good view is from the far side of a deep ravine. Hummmm? A 400 mm lens would do the trick. I'm having a temporary attack of long lens envy.
