Please

I caught the glimpse of graffiti on the Aspen trees but not the detail until I later looked at the photo.
I cannot personally relate to some desire to damage something like a tree or a canyon wall or a building for that matter with names, initials, symbols but it seems to be a practice that crosses time and cultures. Is it a drive to leave a record of existence or an artistic self-expression or social protest or just self centered thoughtlessness? I guess it's all a matter of intention.
I do wish that the people who do this would use paper or a canvass or clay instead...please.
Nature deserves to be beautiful all by itself.

"He who seeks truth shall find beauty. He who seeks beauty shall find vanity. He who seeks order shall find gratification. He who seeks gratification shall be disappointed. He who considers himself the servant of his fellow beings shall find the joy of self-expression. He who seeks self-expression shall fall into the pit of arrogance."- Moshe Safdie

[Now, the rest of the story is that the graffiti includes my name - I seriously had no clue until I looked at the photo later in the day. How bizarre is that???]
