Arriving at Caen
Overnight ferry to Caen. Good crossing but breakfast was a bit ropey due to naff milk in my coffee.
Had to help navigate past the farmer protests. Map reading is not a great skill of mine so stress ensued. Tractors and lorries closed some of the major roads heading south and roundabouts had been ploughed up and piled high with tyres that had been set alight. I was rather stressed during some unpleasant parts of the journey and quite a bit of negativity was in the air.
Lunch in Chateaux Renault, I think it was called, was nice, a fab massive salad with potato wedges. Well Sunday roasties more like. . .
Went to Troo a troglodyte dwelling place, interesting to see but super hot weather wise and no decent photo ops. I must have lost a pound in weight walking up a huge spiral pathway trying to get to a viewpoint at the top of a hill. The view was pretty good.
Arrived in Blois and fell asleep for two hours or so then walked into town for dinner which was decent. The chateaux here looks huge but I haven't been in it. Found a cool bar which was like a place you'd see in Bruges, it's called velvet and the vaulted ceilings are amazing. Any goth would love it inside. Hope to go back tomorrow. Walked back in the Loire in the dark, 15km plus walked today. The air conditioning is working overtime right now!
