Heath Treat

Out on my bike after dinner this evening, and what a treat it felt.  I went up on to the heath where there are several tracks I can use to cycle.  The light was clear and the air so cool after this afternoon's rain.  There were roe deer grazing and lots of birds - including several green woodpeckers who flew off making their yaffling call as they went.  I stopped to take in the sun as it slipped behind a wooded hill known as Selborne Hanger.  Silent and magical.
