A Pale Pink Rose
"One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today"
Dale Carnegie (1888 - 1955)
My sister and niece did a lot of work in the garden while I drove Mum to her dental check-up in Colchester this afternoon. By the time we got back, they'd cut the (very wide) front hedge, tidied up and watered the back garden, tied the collapsed jasmine vine onto a new stronger trellis, put in a support stick for one of the roses and fixed the misaligned bolt on the side gate. I'm amazed at how many buds keep appearing on many of the rose bushes - my "nipping and tucking" and watering each evening when I stay here is obviously paying dividends. The geraniums are continually blossoming in various shades of pink and red, and the pink hydrangea always enjoys a good soaking. Having thought this particular bush had finished blooming, it was a pleasant surprise to find a lovely pale rose and new buds peeping out from dense foliage outside the kitchen window.
