Go Tigers!

My first baseball game this evening saw Hanshin Tigers beat the Tokyo Giants to take them to the top of the table. Not sure I am any the wiser about the sport but watching the spectators was an event in itself. There was chanting, singing and some synchronized dancing!

At regular intervals the crowd released balloons into the stadium, signaled by the singing of a particular song. What a great night!

Not sure I could call myself a baseball fan, but like concerts here, major sports events are family affairs and have THE most amazing atmosphere. Spectators are all so well behaved, despite the prevalence of 'beer girls' who circulate the stadium with kegs. There may also have been yakitori... ;)
