Over The Water

Due to a fatal accident closing the motorway at Livingston we had to take a huge detour to get to the bridge across the Forth which took us an hour.

We were just crossing the bridge when Squirrel announced she needed the loo.
So it was off at North Queensferry for a stop at the hotel - where I snapped the current state of play with the new bridge. It doesn't seem to have proceeded much over the last few months and I suspect they will be pushing it to get it open by its deadline next year (although nobody seems to have committed themselves as to when in 2016 - obviously no penalty clauses in the contract .............again - the Scottish Parliament at good at forgetting them and thereby costing the public major fortunes on work).

The weather on the way up to the Scottish Wildlife Park was terrible, but it managed to stay dry (if cold) while we were there.
We stopped off at the Youth Hostel in Pitlochry to see my mate and his wife who is the warden and had our picnic on the front lawn looking out over the town.

While we were going round the wildlife park the light levels were not great so pictures weren't great, but we did see the tigers being fed, the Arctic Foxes (first on The Cygnets 'to see' list) and the Snow Monkeys (Squirrels only item to the 'to see' list).

Some Shots From The Trip Are Here

We spent the night at a hotel in Newtonmore where were had an excellent bar meal and the kids had a whale of a time with Eric the barman.
It took them until 9pm before they eventually succumbed to sleep - so much for them being tired and Squirrel stating at 6pm she was tired and ready for bed!
