The announcement

Glasgow paper August 1930 announcing my grandparents marriage in Tarrytown, New York.
My grandpa went over to find work with his friends and my granny followed 7 months later. It took her about 6 weeks on the boat which I find remarkable. What courage to set out on your own, confident that when you get there you will meet and marry the man that you have last seen 7 months previously.
They returned to Scotland when my mum was 6 and my grandpa always said America is a wonderful country if you're doing well. It was the Great Depression and obviously they weren't.
Anyway, we are off to the states and I am hoping to visit this church and track down some of my American history.
