Cumbria Here I Come

Books

This is a selection of books from the bookcase which I had to move today as part of the sorting out task.  I even gave the books a good dusting and came across books I had forgotten about.  Some I really should give to a charity shop as well.

Do you remember Rupert Bear?  This book is a numbered copy of the very first one published.  There were a limited number of these published, can't remember how many.  I just so happened to be working at the Daily Express in the books department which is how I managed to get a copy.   Adam the Gardener was another one of their publications.

Do you recognise Gilbert O'Sullivan?  He was my heart throb back in the 70s.  I was lucky enough to go to some of his concerts with my sister.  We made a book for him about his life and presented it to him at the London Paladium and he gave us a kiss on the lips :):)  which made us go weak at the knees.  I once saw him on the train many years ago, he was looking at his latest cd.  The train was just pulling into my station when I spotted him so didn't get chance to say hello.

I also came across an ABBA programme from 1979 when I was lucky enough to see them in concert in Wembley.  What an amazing concert that was.

Completely changing the subject, I noticed this morning when I fed the birds that the collar doves have disappeared!  Very strange as they are always there waiting.  There's about a dozen of them.  Bit of a pain really as they get through the food really quickly.  When I think back I think they've been gone for at least a week and I've only just noticed!!
