Shirley Baker

I spent some time in The Photographers' Gallery off Oxford St this afternoon. An exhibition of Shirley Baker's photography (previously unknown to me) really grabbed my attention. The pictures were taken in the 50's, 60's and 70's during the slum clearances in Manchester and Salford. This one was adopted as a record cover around 1990, but most of them have had little exposure since they were taken.
