Champex Lac to Mont Fort
After a fairly tough day yesterday I was glad that today's description was for something gentler, especially as this was C's first day in the mountains for a while. But 850m of descent on forrestry & farm tracks isn't my idea of fun, so I was fairly happy when we got to Semblancher and headed off on footpaths.
Arriving at La Chable most things were shut as its Monday, so we got the lift up to Verbier for lunch and then Les Ruinettes....
....and then the walk just turned amazing again, sure there's some lift infrastructure, but there were also cooling bisses, Golden Eagles, Swallowtails, Marmots, and astounding views.
Arriving at Mont Fort there's just an stunning 360 panorama, and for a Refuge its luxurious, twin rooms (dortoirs available too), hot showers and chilled beer, and at 2550m its pleasantly cool.
