Why is it that the people who least live up to these values are the ones who most use the words?

My immediate colleagues are a very wonderful bunch and we laughed a lot today in adversity. Inspired by lookseeclick I took an ironic bowl of cherries into work, but I forgot to take a picture of them before they were mostly stones and stalks. So I thought this bit of irony would do instead.
