Sheer Elegance

Lovely to see this beautiful vintage Alvis in the car park of my local Waitrose supermarket today.
Small wonder that it was attracting plenty of attention from car lovers, and those just fascinated by its sheer elegance.
Certainly it was a splendid day to have the roof down and to be enjoying summer from this fascinating classic.
How old is it? I would have needed wait for the owner to return to check, my research suggests the DD number plate followed by a number would have been issued in Gloucestershire sometime between 1912 and 1926 and as Alvis did not come into being until 1919, it suggests the early 1920s. But maybe my fellow Blippers will be able to through more light on the age.
Alvis cars were produced in Coventry from 1919 until the mid 1960s when the company became a subsidiary of Rover, and subsequently part of British Leyland.

It also built racing cars, aircraft engines, armoured cars and armoured fighting vehicles, but car manufacturing  ceased after the company became a subsidiary of Rover.
I'll be interested to hear from any car enthusiast who can identify the age.
