The Fount of Faith~ Hexham Abbey

The first long lie in for a very long time. Much needed after all the excitement of the performances over the past two evenings. Our lovely friends who came all the way from London to see my daughter dance are heading back this evening, so we went out for a Sunday Lunch and then on to Hexham and visited the Abbey.
The font holds water used in baptisms.The ancient font stands a 12th century pillar. There is an 18th century cover, and a tall canopy made in 1916 which includes many medieval fragments.
