Picnic by the river

This afternoon we went with C and C down to the river to the Vernatt's drain nature reserve. I am amazed I had not heard of this place that is virtually on my doorstep. It is a modest patch of dry and wet land that has been allowed to revert back to nature and there were plenty of butterflies and other insects. It will certainly be worth revisiting.
