Battle Proms

I had a very enjoyable evening at the Battle Proms at Hatfield House with my friends G and M.  I've been several times to the Battle Proms at Blenheim Palace, but this was the first time I'd been to Hatfield House.

The main picture is of the Grace Spitfire which performed a wonderful flying display which marked 75 years since the Battle of Britain.  It's flown by Carolyn Grace and has been since her husband tragically died in a car accident after he'd found and restored the Spitfire and flown it.

I've also included an extra photo of one of the cavalry, as the inspiration for the evening's programme was the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.  

Obviously no Battle Proms would be complete without Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and Beethoven's Battle Symphony, which involved the firing of 200+ live canons.  The red smoke from this is shown in another extra, with a union jack which us spectators love to wave as the evening reaches its firework finale.  

Always a wonderful evening, thoroughly recommended.
