Pont du Gard

This most prominent remaining feature of the Roman aqueduct supply in water to the city of Nimes, spans the Gard River. When I was here 30 years ago, this was a local bus ride out of Nimes, there was only a small parking lot with an unattended restroom facility, and there were probably no more than 15 or 20 people around. This time, there was a large visitor center with an auditorium, museum, restaurants and shops, and throngs of people.
