Wildflower Island
There has been a tendency in recent years, around these parts, to set up 'managed' wild flower patches in public areas - traffic islands, patches within public parks, etc. This is a trend that I wholeheartedly welcome as, over the years, agriculture and hedgerow trimming has destroyed many of these ecologically necessary areas. Now their importance has been fully recognised as 'home-bases' for butterflies and other flying insects, and the will is there to get on and do something about it.
