Closed for business

Now this is a sad sight. The local butcher closed in Woodstock sometime ago which seemed to mark the end of an era. When open it had pheasants hanging outside and a barn door which rang when you opened it. The butcher retired and I guess there was no one to take it on.

Beattie's funeral marked an end of an era too . She was the eldest of 10 children and only 3 now alive. It was good to have time to reflect on a life lived through such different times. She was too poor to go to grammar school and had to go to work in a factory but eventually got herself trained as a dressmaker (her passion) and ended up teaching her skills to others. Sadly missed.
