Here there and everywhere

Our last day on Arran and we were graced with sun once again.  I'm beginning to wonder why people complain about the weather here ;-)

We almost didn't have the cooked breakfast this morning, but gave in at the  last minute, knowing it would be our last for a while!   We had a wander round Brodick and I bought a flowery 3/4 length raincoat (see extra photo) I'd noticed when we arrived.  We then headed to the old Brodick youth hostel up Glen Cloy, where Bb's parents met.  It's now a private holiday house and as we were showing such interest that the family came out and invited us in and showed us around.  It's beautifully done up, retaining original features but with all the mod cons that families want these days.   Nice for Bb to actually stand in the kitchen area where his dad helped his mum get the lumps out of her custard and where it all started!

Then we were off to Lamlash for a wee walk round the harbour and a coffee and scone (first of the holiday!) in the little cafe there where we sat and chose our wedding hymns when we were planning our wedding.

Back over on the ferry and although it was windy, it was a warm(ish!) wind and we stayed out on deck.   Here's Bb with Goatfell in the back ground.   We both love islands - something special about arriving and always a tinge of sadness when leaving and although the crossing from Brodick to Ardrossan is just 55 mins, it feels like a million miles away and another world.

Popped into my mother-in-law's in Largs for coffee and a quick chat up before driving to Edinburgh.   No accommodation booked again and so we found ourselves turning up at the door of the airbnb we'd stayed in a few days before, having seen that the room was free on the site.  A warm welcome and this time we had the huge upstairs room.  The size and finish was comparable to a 5 star hotel!  We'll definitely be back.

Dinner at The Montpelier in Bruntsfield and nice to be back in our old Edinburgh days'  stomping ground.  No fish and chips were consumed.
