Apple disaster

Sorry for any implied violence, but the latest update from Apple really messed up my computer - it now fails to boot, with a kernel panic! The solution to the problem seems to be a complete re-install of the operating system and a restore from Time Machine. This means two days of lost work, plus a day trying to resolve the problem. This has affected a lot of other users. Apart from the wasted time and lost files, one loses all faith in a company which can issue such a seriously damaging system update for computers which are only 15 months old.
