Desert Rose

"Adenium obesum is a species of flowering plant in the dogbane family, Apocynaceae, that is native to the tropical and subtropical eastern and southern Africa and Arabia. Common names include desert rose."

The toxic sap of its roots and stems is used as arrow poison for hunting large game throughout much of Africa. So I guess I'm ready if I had an arrow and went looking for large game?

Despite that it is a drought-deciduous succulent, I've almost killed it a few times. But it survives and I love it. It has a dark pink flower but I only get one or two a year.

I just love it's weird shape.
I've noticed that I tend to like weird things...

"We are all a little weird. And we like to think that there is always someone weirder. I mean, I am sure some of you are looking at me and thinking, “Well, at least I am not as weird as you,” and I am thinking, “Well, at least I am not as weird as the people in the loony bin,” and the people in the loony bin are thinking, “Well, at least I am an orange”. ~ Jim Gaffigan
