Shelter from the rain

The last few days turned out to be a dream.  So today I checked out the facilities in the recently opened Stromness Library.  Being an utter hedonist I even took out a book.  This therefore allows me to reference Michael Marra’s National Anthem for Scotland.

Upstairs in the library there is a great little corner of leather sofas with a good view over the harbour.  I read the Scottish Review of Books and watched rain lashing the windows and the boats bobbing about.  A few tourists had sought succour.  I had to go and buy my Mum some messages - ‘pink’ grapes and shredded wheat.  I then received a text from the Current Mrs Creel indicating that we have visitors.  An internationally renowned musician has unexpectedly called along with a friend.  So they are staying the night.  I have to go for extra messages.  It is some time since we have seen her so it is good to catch up.  The heating is back on.
