Let the Holidays Begin

Last day at school today and the first day of our French holiday. A holiday which has been planned and booked since we got back from Disneyland last April!!
I dropped Miss L off in Reception for the last time. And gave Mrs S and Mrs G the vouchers which Miss L had accidentally bought home yesterday!
I say it every year but I can't believe how fast the year has gone. And what a difference I can see in Miss L. She started off in September knowing a just few letters and not showing much interest in learning any more and now she can read and write, and do sums, and tell us about science, nature, shapes, music, money and all the millions of things she's learnt!
She has had a happy year and was so lucky to have Mrs S - as was Miss E a couple of years ago.
I had a few hours at home packing and panicking before heading back to get them. They both got certificates at their end of term assembly. Miss E for Progress and Miss L for Understanding the World. Their reports were both brilliant and make us very proud.
Nana and Papa came round for a bit to see the Little Misses before we head off. They helped us tidy up a bit and pack the car which is always much appreciated.
Miraculously we managed to head off at exactly the time we planned. That's never happened before!!! 8pm on the dot we were on our way! The Little Misses were in their jim jams and very excited!!
We got to the M25 really quickly and made it to South Mimm's before Mr K was desperate for coffee and a Subways! And cake - which he rather selfishly bought only for himself! I made Miss E laugh hysterically by stealing the cake and then denying it to Mr K! Ha ha!
We zoomed down to the M20 before getting to the diversion caused by Operation Stack. It was a bit eerie seeing so many lorries parked on the hard shoulder and wondering if we'd missed the motorway closure and accidentally strayed into the back of the lorry park!
The diversion was slow but not too long and we made it to the Purple Hotel (Premier Inn!) by about 11pm. The Little Misses woke up as we parked and walked in with us. They were giddy to be out and about so late and as excited as ever to jump into their usual beds. Thirty seconds after they got in they were asleep!
We weren't too long after them. Beds at the Purple Hotel really are rather comfy!
