Food chain in full view

I was out for a stroll this morning and saw this Thrush banging it's head up and down, there was a tapping sound.
I thought I would investigate and if you look at large you will see the reason.
Its was breaking a snail's shell and if you look at bottom of the shot you can see the fragments lying in the footpath
Nature is cruel
