Times Of My Life

Artwork At Work

My colleague was on holiday last week with her husband and two wee girls.  She really deserved a break, as she works very hard all the time, as well as being Mum and working hard at home too.  So I was gutted to hear that on the second last day of the holiday, it all went Pete Tong.

Up in Aberdeen, at the Funfair, Sophie (aged 5) fell badly while bouncing on the Bouncy Castle, and broke her thigh bone just above the knee.  Needless to say, this required a visit to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, and an extra couple of nights stay in the hotel for my colleague and the rest of the family.

They got home on Monday night, and wee Sophie came in to Perth Royal Infirmary (where we work) today for an appointment with the Orthopaedic Consultant.  It looks like she may have to have an operation on the leg, and have pins put in to keep the bone straight.

Isn't it scary how easily your plans can change?  Julie (my colleague) had organised day trips all through the holidays so as to make the most of the summer before Sophie starts P1 in August.  Looks like there will be lots of DVD's, Scrabble, and colouring in now instead!

Fingers crossed that everything heals up nicely, but that is DEFINITELY me staying well away from Bouncy Castles when I'm babysitting this weekend.  Who'd have thought?
