the goat-herder didn't feel he'd achieved much today, it was as though he'd just been going round and round in circles.

I've been wanting to take this guy's photo for ages and today I finally plucked up the courage to ask him. I've never asked a stranger for a picture before. It turns out he's from Romania and has also worked on Mont Blanc in Italy before moving here two years ago. He speaks Romanian, Italian, Greek and English. He says the work is hard, all bloody mountains! He also tells me Europe is in a mess. I won't make naïve assumptions about goat-herders in future. I forgot to ask his name. Shame on me.
