Changeable this morning, which at least makes things easier for St Swithin – if he had to guarantee forty days of the kind of balmy sunshine the afternoon seems to have settled into he might find himself struggling…


I’ve been meaning to document the Nottingham institution (by which I mean that it’s been here longer than I have) that is Dave’s Centre Styles for quite some time now, mainly it must be said because I like the sign outside the shop, but it’s just that little bit further up Mansfield Road than I tend to routinely walk, especially since Shawe’s Art Supplies shut down. Plus it looks like the highly anticipated ‘Barber Wars’ that looked imminent when the ancient dodgy newsagent next door was replaced by ‘Royal Cuts’ a year or so back never really came to anything. Dave just got his sign cleaned and carried on regardless…
