public garden, dromedaries and berber carpets

Jardin El-Harti, a spacious botanical garden in Marrakech's Ville Nouvelle.

This wasn't on any tourist trail - unlike the Jardin Majorelle, a much smaller botanical garden, overcrowded with both specimens and foreign visitors - but provided a delightful place for the locals (and the occasional visitor to Marrakech) to relax and enjoy the exhibits.  Here are palms, olive trees and jacarandas for the adults; for children there are dinosaurs and a discovery trail about the ecology of the palm tree.

The highlight of the Jardin Majorelle was the Berber Museum, particularly its collection of colourful Berber clothing, but photography was not allowed.
