France or Germany?

Getting closer to Strasbourg and the towns become very different. An area that has changed regularly from being French to German, not always voluntarily.
This is Riquemaur - another of the Plus beaux village de France- in the Alsace region. A town dominated by its vineyards with almost every house as brightly painted as this one. Almost too much of a tourist spot but several nearby villages nearby were nearly as pretty without the crowds.
We did have a little degustation and left clutching fifteen bottles of the local wine. A real traditionalist talked us through his wines, joined half way through by another English couple.
Just before dropping down to the Rhine valley,  we followed the Route des Cretes. An impressive road along the top of the Vosges mountains.
