The View from Glencoe
Our first (planned) stop of the day was Glencoe, only 2 hours from Glasgow. We went up the mountain on the chair lefts - amazing views!! I was surprised to see patches of snow still lingering, so with the novelty of snow in July we climbed up a bit further to get our hands on it. I was glad I'd borrowed Sister's Rab jacket and packed hats etc as it was pretty chilly and windy up there.
After lunch and the mountain, we carried on up towards Fort William, the forecast rains started and we were behind schedule (this is what happens when you leave 2 hours late, partially Alfie's fault for bringing a poor bird into the house). We decided to head for the White sands of Morar anyway and as I had hoped the weather stopped being mean as we arrived. Extra pic shows these famous beaches, they look a lot better with some Sun though! We picked up some shells and I finally found an intact scallop shell.
We then headed along the coast to Arisaig, oohing and ahing at all the beautiful little coves and the views of the islands - see extra pic for a view of Rum. We had dinner at Arisaig, it was good but the kitchen obviously lost or order as we waited an hour for food. So finally on the road to Fort William, a tad late, and it chucked it down, the worst rain I've seen in ages - yikes!
We packed in a lot on day one!
Ciao
