Fanning
The last couple of weeks during the Horrible Awful Heat Wave, Laurie and I discussed cooling options == we're concerned that this may be the new normal for our usually mild summers here in Portland. She is opposed to A/C, mostly for environmental reasons. I'm a wimp in the heat and need to have some air movement, often spending hot days in front of a fan. So we opted for a ceiling fan in the dining room, thinking it would circulate cooler air through most of the main floor.
Laurie set up the appointment; electricians are busy this time of year, so it was two weeks out. Of course, we knew that would bring on cooler weather, which it did. Laurie thanked Jeff, the electrician, for his part in bringing on the coolness! We kept him busy for a few hour$$, changing out the light fixture in the dining room and hanging it in the living room (it was due to be replaced anyway), installing the fan/light in the dining room, and rewiring the ceiling fan in the cottage so the remote would work. All is well. The jury is still out about whether this will help with the heat issue in the house - we'll be able to tell in next heat wave (hopefully not too soon).
You can see Jeff at work in the extras.
