Wooden Bridge

If you drive south to Merimbula you can always take the highway - if you are a boring sort of person who is well and truly bored with life. You get there fairly quickly but there's not a lot to see. On the other hand you can take a narrow coast road which crosses lagoons and small inlets, takes you past little villages and beach settlements. It's windy, slow and a little rough in places but it is MUCH more interesting than the alternative.

This old wooden structure must be well past the time when some well meaning local council should have ordered it destroyed and replaced by a soulless concrete monstrosity. As it has survived until now I can only believe that it is preserved by heritage order and maintained by some fund. Let's hope so anyway.
