The rest of forever...

Old Friends

We were up at 3am and drove to the finish line for 5am. Picked up and transported to the start line for 7am. We went to take part in Race to the Stones, a 100km race that runs along the Ridgeway in Oxfordshire and Berkshire. Paul met an old running buddy from Nepal at the start, it was great to see him after such a long time. The race began at 8am and we had a good few kilometers in our legs when we got to the first pit stop at 11km. Things seemed okay until 34km when I got my first blister. We soldiered on to 50km and had a good nosh, drink and clean socks...but the feet looked bad and the paracetamol was being consumed like sweets. Hit 70km at 11pm and my feet were in pieces...Medics took one look and advised I pulled out. Very upset. Didn't go to all this trouble to fail at 70km. Got a lift to the finish and promptly threw up. Paul drove us home, no idea how he stayed awake, but we got in at 4.30am. Sleep. My feet will be agony tomorrow!
