Balgavies Loch, near Forfar
This is where we saw the ospreys with their chick a few weeks ago, so we went back today to see how they were getting on. The adults posed very nicely for us in the top branches of a tree, but the chick was sound asleep in the nest and didn't budge all the time we were there, although it had been seen being fed earlier.
We walked all round the loch, a distance of five three maybe two miles, although it seemed longer as there was so much to see. Lots of wild flowers we couldn't identify, swans and cygnets, large areas of tiny wild strawberries right next to the path and hundreds of teeny, tiny frogs which insisted on walking on the path in front of our feet, making it hard not to step on them:-)
The weather was cool and overcast, but no rain, so it was ideal for me, as I don't like walking in the heat. A lovely day!
