Pine Marten

On our travels yesterday, in Perthshire, we had to stop the car as 2 of these little guys came bounding onto the road and proceeded to have much fun and games with playing/chasing each other.

When they finally realised they were being observed, they both rushed into the long grass at the side of the road.
I did manage to get a picture of the two of them even though they are soooo quick, but I liked this shot best. (And it's one of the clearer ones :)

Apparently, after googling, we found out what they were and how fortunate we have been to actually see them. These two were young as they were quite small but Pine Martens can live up to 10yrs and can grow as big as a domestic cat.
