In Search of Hadrian

My day started before 5 am. My Bus Pass Adventure brought me to South Shields via Sheffield, Barnsley, Wakefield, Leeds, Scarborough, Middlesbrough, and Gateshead. The journey went fairly smoothly, although as the bus from Leeds to Scarborough was seriously delayed by heavy traffic in York (mainly race-goers) I had given up on the connection, although in the event, I made it, just as the bus was pulling out, and the driver waited for me.
I decided to travel to South Shields for a number of reasons. The main object of the adventure is to travel from coast to coast, which I'll attempt on Monday, and this is a good starting point - I've never visited this part of Tyneside before, whereas the Romans have. It's a relatively narrow traverse, following the line of Hadrian's Wall and there is a bus which will take me most of the way.
I've done a short reccy this evening, and I think there is plenty to see around here, so that's for tomorrow.
Thank you to a friend and 2 fellow Blippers who have kept me company , following my journey on Twitter.
Struggling to keep my eyes open, so an early night for me.
