So Excited...

...first time I have ever seen a Great Crested Grebe.  Returned to Chasewater this morning, because yesterday we saw some baby coots on their nest, but I was not able to get a decent shot of them, so we decided to have another go today.  While I was watching the empty nest in the hope they would return T, who had climbed onto a low wall, shouted that a pair of grebes were heading my way.  They took over the coot's nest and were just beginning their courtship dance, when the coot and babies came rushing back. the grebes then swam away.

I have included shots of the coots as extras.  The babies are not the prettiest of birds, but I am sure their mother loves them :)
