Butterfly or Moth?

I am not familiar with many butterflies, or maybe this is a moth?  It was resting on the patio, and I thought it was rather an unusual colour. Maybe one of our expert blippers can identify it?
I have edited the background slightly to enhance the shot, but the butterfly remains as seen.
